Compost
Using our chicken manure we add other natural ingredients and produce Natural Gold Compost which is perfect for gardens, lawns, houseplants, etc. Produced 100% on site throughout the year it is sold in bulk on our farm in May/June and September/October. It is a popular product and goes fast while supplies last. We also use our compost on our own farm lands.
Compost Use Suggestions
- Before planting vegetable & flower gardens, spread Natural Gold in a .4″ – 2″ (1 – 5 cm) layer over soil and mix into the top 2¾” – 4″ (7 – 10) cm of soil.
- For new lawns, spread Natural Gold from 1″ – 2″ (2.5 – 5 cm), over the soil and mix into the top 2¾” – 4″ (7 – 10) cm of soil. For established lawns – aerate the lawn, then apply Natural Gold .4″ – 1″ (1 – 2.5 cm). Apply during spring, summer or fall.
- When planting new trees or shrubs place 2″ (5 cm) of Natural Gold in the bottom of the hole, place tree in hole and fill is space with top soil. Press down the soil, and water. For established trees and shrubs spread Natural Gold 1″ – 2″ (2.5 – 5 cm) around the drip line of the tree or shrub.
- When adding Natural Gold to potting soil, use one part Natural Gold to 5 parts potting soil.
- For potted house plants add .4″ (1 cm) Natural Gold to surface of the soil and then water. Repeat once a month.
